The African Committee improves the management of rights administration by member societies and promotes the creation of new ones. It addresses issues linked to the moral, material and professional interests of African authors and their societies. In the legal field, the Committee encourages and promotes the enactment of legislation which would serve to improve the situation and interests of authors.
All African member societies make up the African Committee, which convenes every year. The committee is led by a Chair, who heads the meeting and reports on the progress being made.
An Executive Committee sees to the effective implementation of the decisions made by the African Committee. Its functions are:
- to address problems affecting member societies
- to encourage the creation of authors’ societies in Africa
- to elaborate programmes for adoption by the African Committee
